Very slow integration with Alexa

Still facing this issue. Some responding after 10-20sec, others do not respond at all or after minutes. When you say “device 50%” the device ist only switched on to 100%, but does not dim to 50%.

Hue essentials and even the new Phoscon App on Android 15 with rooms in are working well!
Maybe i’m wrong but seems the malfunction appears at the Same time i installed the Android App.

Got myself a Alexa Sphere now and will make some tests. But I don’t have too high hopes for a fix yet. Since the older deCONZ versions too don’t seem to work too it feels like something on the Amazon side has changed (?), hopefully the debugger will yield some new insights.

@manup let me know in case you need testing, logs etc. The wife tolerance time is definitely over  with more than 35 GU10 Lights

Hello everyone,

I am facing exactly the same problem and have already felt that I have tried everything to solve it. In fact, I suspect Alexa or its connection to Phoscon itself, as everything works without delay via the Phoscon app. Even lights that are not integrated via deConz but, for example, via LEDVance switch immediately.

I could collect a network dump if needed

Hey, any news on this?

Hi from my side unfortunately I hit a road block with my Echo Gen. 5 during setup. I can pair the the Echo with the Alexa App, it says all right Echo ready to use but then it’s always marked as offline in the Alexa app

Tried to troubleshoot but all the tips in on the Internet don’t work, I just can’t get this thing to work. Both are on the same Wifi and the Echo accepts voice commands and can play music etc, but it won’t talk with the app, neither from a phone nor tablet. Don’t really know how to fix this.

What I’d liked to do with a working setup is looking which commands are send from the Echo to the REST-API. Some of this can be seen with the debug parameter --dbg-http=1 (or enable this via Debug view GUI in deCONZ) it’s very noisy but might bring more insights.

The same problem is now occurring with my Fritzbox via Matter. I suspect the problem lies with Amazon Alexa and not with deCONZ

Hi, i have the same problem with the latest version of deCONZ and Alexa since some weeks.

Maybe this post about the port 443 can be a solution?

Hi, I just checked.

My deCONZ Instance is accessible on port 443. Running netstat on the deCONZ host, shows that all my Alexa units are connected to the host using that port.

Nevertheless, I also observe a long delay between alexa command and deCONZ response.

Any update on this issue?

I’m glad I found this thread — at least I’m not alone. The past few weeks have been driving me crazy: Alexa keeps timing out on my deCONZ devices. I can still turn them on and off, but only with a timeout message. Changing bulb colors only works on some devices now.

This started out of nowhere, with no changes to the deCONZ version or anything else. I’ve been using deCONZ for almost two years without issues, and I’ve been on v2.30.2 since the beginning of July — it was working fine until the problem began around the start of August.

Really hoping there’ll be a solution soon.

Hi everyone,

I’m experiencing the same problem. The connection between deCONZ and Alexa is very slow. I often get an error message from Alexa, but the lights still end up responding after a delay.

Interestingly, if I control the lights through OpenHab, the response is instant, but I’d rather avoid that extra setup.

Are there any updates or fixes for this issue?

Hi, deconz is accessable via port 443 using the WebSocket protocol, but not via https. And i think that Alexa is trying to access via the https protocol over port 443. Maybe Alexa only did it via port 80 with http until the last Update?

It has to be a issue on Amazons side. My Home Assistent responses are instant. All my shellys work as with no problem. Its only deconz lights that are running slow.

And its across multiple versions. I was on a older version when this issue started weeks ago. Even upgrading didnt helped.

We have to wait for the deconz devs to find out whats the issue. Or we have to find another software that does the trick. I personally dont want to reconfig my Home Assistent tho

In my opinion, the integration between Alexa and deCONZ is one of the most important interfaces overall, and without Alexa, the product is quite useless. If there isn’t a timely solution to this issue, many users will likely turn away from your product.
