Did you try to upload the backup after firmware upgrade ? I just upgraded the firmware and upload the backup and everything is working fine.
Oh yeah. Everything works again.
I did not know the backup restores something on the Conbee (?).
I always updated the conbee II without the need to restore a backup. Is this a bug?
Since a backup allow to migrate from one conbee to another I assume that backup restore nvram on conbee to keep pairing with all device.
I don’t know if it’s a bug I always restore backup after upgrade, I think that’s a good practice even if it might not be mandatory.
Hi I’m the Firmware Developer of the CB3. There is currently a issue where the Bootloader sometimes overwrites the UserConfig while doing a Firmware update (chances this happens are about 1/5, depending in where in NVMEM the config is currently written to). This will be fixed in the upcoming Firmware (0x26510900). You can just load a backup and it should be fixed for now.
The upgrade to the next Version (26510900) should be the last time the config can be lost.
deCONZ and HA should automatically create periodic Backups that you can apply if your config gets lost.
But like @dduransseau said its good practice to always do a backup before the firmware update and apply a backup after.
Best Regards
Eric

I agree with this.
Hey,
I’ve got a similar problem. A few ago, I wanted to add a IKEA Parasoll Window Sensor. I’ve already got a couple of them in the network and they used to work fine.
However, this time it just didn’t want to pair and I finally made firmware update on the Conbee III, after which it worked flawlessly.
The next morning nothing reported anything on the network. Not a single sensor or actor would to anything.
I tried on different devices and host OSes with deCONZ and other software. The Conbee III stick seems to talk with the hosts, but there’s no contact with devices. Also pairing doesn’t work.
Unfortunately, I wasn’t aware of my lack of a backup strategy for this. So, no backup afaik.
Is there a chance to reset the stick oder use an empty backup to get it in line again?
Cheers
Florian
EDIT:
Got the idea to “reset” by using older firmwares. Apparently, deCONZ_ConBeeIII_0x26530900 works flawlessly, but none of the later ones. No updates incoming and no pairing possible for the later firmware.
The database (= device name, information about group, ect …) is stored on host
The network config ( = Network key, mac adress, ect …) is stored on the gateway
Device config ( = bind, report, coordinateur MAC, network key) are stored on device itself.
You have only modified the gateway firmware ? So the rest is untouched.
Can try a new firmware upgrade (with the same one)
Can check if the network config is not corrupted
Can enable logs, you can see the faulty setting.
I have the same issue after firmware upgrade. unfortunately applying the backup did not help, network stays greyed and unresponsive. Does anybody have an idea how to save my network? I have 60+ devices it would be a pain to re-pair them all…
EDIT:
I was able to restore a network backup to phoscon that was over half a year old and that worked, could restore the network and just had to re-assign a few devices. Had to power off the whole system for 1 minute, I think that did the trick (shutting down host machine).
