Zigbee network becomes unresponsive after a 1-2 weeks

Hey guys.

I have around ~150 devices (mixed end devices & routers) from various brands (hue, ikea, osram, paulmann…)
deconz is running as HASS.IO addon on an odroid n2+.
deconz is the newest 1.18.2 & and conbee II firmware is also the newest: 26780700
I am faced this issue also in previous versions.

After restarting deconz the network is snappy and responsive (checking by pressing hue dimmer switch with rules in deconz to switch lights).

After some time 1-2 weeks the network becomes unreliable and really slow. it takes up to ~10 seconds after the commands are executed (switching groups, lights, …).

So because after restart of JUST the deconz addon, it seems something goes wrong there.
I dont restart anything else or move cables or anything else, just restart deconz and all works.

Dont want to enable debug logging all the time and writing my EMMC to death until the issue appear.

Is this a known issue?

How can i help debug this kind of issue?

Is there a way to enable debug on the fly, when the issue occured?

Sometimes when reading the forum i stumbled about messages that the osram plugs are nasty to the network in some way. Any hint’s about this?

thank you

Yep, it s visible on the complete application using VNC. On the menu / help / debug view.

Good to know, thx.
Will look at it when the issue appears.

You a more advance user/dev :innocent:
Any hint’s what can cause this issue?

thx

Nope sorry, I know an other user with a big network too was rebooting all the network with an automation all X days, but was some years ago.

Are you sure the problem is from zigbee and not software ? No ram issues, or cpu usage ? (There is somes issues ATM about ram consumption, but devs are making tests)

n.p. i have added all my active routers (yellow in deconz VNC) with manufacturer an modelid in the OP.
thx for the hint regarding addon restart all X days. But that’s the last resort i want to go  Have noted it on my todo at the bottom

i will check RAM usage of the addon when the issue appears, now after ~1 day it’s about 4,8% usage.
Also checking if there is something in the debug log, when the issue happens.

will update the thread here.
thx

@Smanar today some lights and blinds was reacting slowly or cmds was lost.
RAM is ok, just a grow of 0,2% since 3 days, so that’s not the issue.

I have then removed power from the cheap chinese led stripe:

- Schlafzimmer Bild, ,"manufacturername":"YSRSAI","modelid":"ZB-CL01"

After that one motion sensor-light combo, which was reacting slow, reacted instantly.
Nothing was restarted (deconz, ha, …).

Will keep an eye on it and maybe remove some more routers when the issue reoccurs.

Update, issue came back.
I think i will begin to replace the osram smart+ plug’s with hue ones.
After googling and reading there are plenty issues with them (poor signal strength, bad router capabilities, …).

Hope this stabalize my network.

PS.: nothing bad (loops or anything else in the debug view)

You are checking with “error” “error_l2” “info” and “info_l2” ? when you have slowdown ?

Sorry, my bad. Had just Info ticked.
Is it enough to activate “error” “error_l2” “info” and “info_l2” just when the network is slow?
Or must this be active before (and happily hammering my emmc)?

thx

No, too much talkative.
You have acces to the GUI ? just enable them when the network is slow.
Not possible to enable log on the emmc during days with enabling them using command line, too much talkative.

ok, thx.
Will activate debug when the network slows down again.

@Smanar i have the issue again (and already removed all osram routers), so that was not the issue.
I am connecting to my deconz via vuilt in VNC throught home assistant gui. Activated all four info and error but how can i copy the log out of it!? right click and copy doent pass the log to my client and i cant paste it ionto notepad or similiar.

I now have copied it from the home assistant settings → addon → deconz → log, but it’s rather short.

here it is:

hope you can see something.
i will not restart the addon until advised to.

thx

I don’t see something about “delaying” or too big delay.
No error message, all seem fine, the only log I don’t know is

07:19:19:171 Incr. ZDP retry count 2636 on item 2

and

07:19:20:100 rule event /config/localtime: 07:19:18.653 -> 07:19:19.630 (977ms)

What is this used for ? You have it every seconds ?

Thanks or looking at the log.
It somehow stabalized without restarting anything.
Now i also hav found a way to extract the log of the deconz addon container.
So when it happens again, i can provide a full log.

Regarding your question:
I dont know either what this message means.
In my system i dont have ANY rule which is based on an time event! I am just using groups and switching them with HA. Th only local rules are HUE dimmer switches button presses.

Is there a way to extract all rules of deconz so you or another dev can have a look at them?
(if someone are problematic)

My system/rules was always configured with HUE essentials android app.

You can find your rules in Phoscon / help / API Information / rules
But I don’t knwo them at all

And BTW I m ATM on the version 2.19 and all my tuya device are delayed by at least 10s, and at deconz start ^^ no need to wait for 2 week

I don’t remember, you have tried to enable or disable the “source routing” ?

Thanks, didnt know that all rules are there.
Looked throught all the rules and not a single date time based rule!

Ah got the issue on github: with latest beta - 2.19.0 - huge delay on group calls and sometimes not even executed · Issue #6445 · dresden-elektronik/deconz-rest-plugin · GitHub
Maybe it’s the same as mine!?

Regarding your question: yes, i had source routing active, and that was the frist i have disabled (because of beta flag), but it also slows down or become instable without it.

I will post a link to this thread on the github issue.

PS.: i am on 1.18.2 stable!

Just a small update, if anyone with similar issues finds this thread.

With the upcomming fixes (better APS queue handling, new javascript engine, …) my issues should be finally resolved.

See: Commits · dresden-elektronik/deconz-rest-plugin · GitHub
Commits on 10.11.2022.
Will be included in next release.

Thx @manup for your efforts.
