Pls help: replacement of gateway

Dear community,

Yesterday, I switched from a Phoscon Gateway (Raspberry) to a Phoscon ConBee III (since the power outage, I can no longer reach the old gateway).

Now I have installed deCONZ and started the light search via the Phoscon app.
a)
Interestingly, not all lights are found (probably a reset problem with [ShenZhen Homa HOMA 1001]).

b)
What doesn’t work at all is reintegrating the switches!
I have dresden elektronik switches (both Scene and Lighting Switches).
No matter how many times I press a button, not a single switch is recognized!

Can someone please help me?!

Hello you have used the backup/restore feature to switch your zigbee network ?

Yes, I tried:
I could see all lights in the node List but not one worked…
So I started new…

Now I have 4 of 6 lights + philips motion detector connected.
no switches.

backups do simply not work:
I tried to restore once more the backup from 2022 (last with working network) - no function
Then I tried to restore the backup from today - does not work anymore. :frowning:

UPDATE:

Meanwhile I could connect all the lights (after switching on/off several times [feels like hundreds…]) .

NO SWITCHES!

You have a capture from deconz (and not Phoscon) ?
Your nodes are visible but disabled or not visible ?

You have used the backup restore feature from Phoscon ?

For information the support for “Light” is native but not for “sensors” so on an empty database, only the firsts one will work.

I am desperate at the moment.
Today morning, the network from yesterday (all lights connected at least) has disappeared.
There is only one light left…

What’s wrong with ConBee III?!
I do not have the time to spend weeks with it.

Answers to your questions:

No, I do not have a capture from deconz.

Nodes: I am not familiar with the vocabulary.
If a node is a light or a switch or a sensor:
The lights were connected ans visible.
I was not able to connect any switches. So they were also not visible.

Yes, I always worked with phoscon APP. But I am not a pro, so I installed the system and used it. No adjustments for years.
In the Phoscon APP I did (2022): Gateway - Backup Optionen - Backup erstellen and saved that file on my HDD.
Also in the Phoscon APP I tried to load this file (2025) - and got all the nodes without connections.

So I reset the ConBee3 and connected newly…

Attached the “imported” nodes - which did not work and the newly connected lights - which are missing today:


I already have tried the GitHub Network help (Disconnect - Save etc. Connect.
No Change…

Weird: Suddenly all lights wer connected again.

So I tried to continue with installation and could connect my motion detector.
Yeah!

All connections lost again… ;-(

So the procedure seem good for me.

You are missing “links” in the GUI and device are not responding too ? If you use the GUI devices are not reacting ?

On the GUI, try help/debug view, with at least flags “error”+“error_l2”+“info”+“info_l2”

You are sure it’s just not a connection issue ? You are using the USB extension and avoid USB3.0 if possible ?

You have already try to update the conbee firmware ?

UPDATE:

Do you know, why there are TWO Gateways listed on start of Phoscon APP (only one is active and can be chosen)? See attachment.

When I start the Phoscon APP and go to Gateway - Tageszeiten (times of day) there is another strange behaviour:
every five seconds a can see the picture (clock…) for a fraction of a second, then it disappears for five seconds and then… cycle.

I think you have 2 deconz running. Deconz and deconz Gui.

You can check if you have 2 instances with

$ ps ax | grep deCONZ

or


$sudo systemctl status deconz 
$sudo systemctl status deconz-gui

Only one of thoses last requests will give a positive result

But taking a look in logs can be usefull, it look like a connexion issue too.

Ha , ok, lol, so forget me, you are using the GUI version for sure, I don’t think there is an headless version for windows (Or I have forget it ?)

But there is realy less connection issues on windows too, it’s strange.

Can still take a look in the task manager, to make short on Linux only 1 application can use the gateway at same time, so if you have 2 applications trying to use the same gateway, one application is" disconnecting", but IDK on windows.

What is your machine (desktop, laptop) ? try with a powered USB hub. You have USB2.0 port ? You are using the USB extension ?

I am using a Win11-PC; own (cheap) machine (intel N100) with USB-extension (1,5 m).
I have updated deCONZ (downgraded to last stable version 2.28.1) and ConBee III firmware (26530900) now.

Lights and motion detector are working well.

I can still not connect my switches?!

Motion sensors are working ?
It’s battery switch or powered ?

I don’t see why some sensors can work and not all …

You have tried to re-include one ?

Switches are devices without name/model/vendor/version ?

Have found my answer

I have dresden elektronik switches (both Scene and Lighting Switches).

So thoses sensors have DDF since 2023, so I don’t think you have an outdated deconz version.
